This is just one of a series of photos I shot after a 16-mile bike ride along The Virginia Creeper Trail north-east of Damascus, Virginia. The stream is “Straight Branch” and flows through Jefferson National Forest and eventually feeds into South Holston Lake along the Virginia-Tennessee border. The Virginia Creeper Trail itself runs from Abingdon, Virginia to Whitetop Station, Virginia. This is a beautifully, scenic ride that offers terrain for all levels of hikers and bikers – beginner to expert. The Appalachian Trail crosses The Virginia Creeper Trail just south of where this photo was taken.
